For the fourth year in a row, the girls and I have headed off to Texas for a long weekend of music at the Austin City Limits Festival. Our dual purpose has been for us to spend time with my parents and to hear great kids’ music, but this year our trip morphed into a spend time with my parents and sister, hear great kids’ music, visit with kindie friends and hear other music…much more than ever!

As my sister has moved to California, she too stayed at my parents’ house and drove in with us each day. As we were her ride, the girls were much more willing to wait until the final act each night before leaving… thus we had the chance to hear the closing bands each night, Phish, Muse and the Eagles! We came to realize that it was faster to walk back to our car than to wait for the shuttle — and found ways to make it fun for everyone (ice cream).

Aunt Suze

We heard great kids’ acts on the Austin Kiddie Limits stage, but also heard other great bands like Ozomatli, Dawes, The Flaming Lips, Gogol Bordello and moe.

At Muse

We ate funny Austin food, got together with friends, played in the sand and felt quite at home, despite the large crowds…
