Despite it having been recommended by multiple people last year, we never managed to make it over to the Eastern Market, a few blocks southwest of the Capitol in DC. This past weekend, when trying to think of something a little different to do in DC with the girls before hitting the road home, I figured it could be fun.
It wasn’t merely fun, it was awesome! We arrived on foot from Union Station and were just amazed at all of the fresh food, arts & craft sales and the flea market! The girls checked out the sales and ended up buying 3 homemade headbands for $5. We bought pink ladies from one of the produce guys. Inside the market itself, the girls drooled over the pastries; I salivated over the cheeses and fresh pasta.
Chloe and I were ready to move to Capitol Hill, right then and there. Sidewalk cafes, a great market, a nice playground nearby, not to mention all those great (free) museums so close by. What more could we want?
