Dusk

Usually, when the days start to get short and darkness becomes the norm, I feel like slowing down. I cuddle up on the couch in my favorite sweatshirt, and it takes much more effort to get everything done.

Something is different this year. I am getting more and more energy this fall. I started out feeling very overwhelmed and not having time to get everything done. But as the days go by, I’m feeling like I am getting much more done and am ready to tackle some new things.

I wonder why this is? Our lives are a little bit less stressful this year. Our whole family back to living in one place — that could be part of it. Work is at a nice comfortable level these days too. I don’t feel like there is a mountain to climb.

However, I think the reason is a combination of two things I started doing for myself recently. I have started taking a multivitamin, and I have started walking on the treadmill every day. I suspect that I may have been anemic (as a vegetarian, this is something I should have thought about). I don’t like taking an hour out of my day to walk on the treadmill, but I’m gaining so much energy that I don’t think I’m really losing that hour at all.

I hope I can keep it up. I like it.
