One of the things that the girls love to do when Rob’s home for the weekend is to get him to take them skating at the nearby rink. Apparently, neither one has really been able to skate unassisted, until now. On Sunday, Rob took the girls and one of their friends. Chloe refused to let Rob help her this time. She had such a great time that she convinced Rob to buy her skates at Target afterwards.

Chloe has not removed the skates since, except to go to bed. She is skating in circles around the house. She doesn’t glide very well, but I think with time, she’ll get some time of skating stroke down.

She reminds me of Tootie from The Fact of Life, that old sitcom from when I was a kid. That show was always fun for us as it was supposed to take place in my hometown, Peekskill. The mascot of PHS in the show was the Pirates, and I always thought that was much cooler than our real mascot, the Devils. Especially given that the mascot of one of our rivals, Hen Hud, was the sailors (get it?).
