Okay, I’m no DC local. And I have not seen nearly all that DC has to offer. But I have found a blog called, obviously enough, DC Like A Local. Not only have I agreed with a lot of the advice provided, but I have also found useful tidbits of information from the posts.
Things like where to eat on The Mall (my advice – avoid Air and Space, go to the Sculpture Garden Cafe), how to ride Metro (stand to the the right on the escalators, please), and more.
One piece of advice we got when we first came was to NOT GET OFF at the Zoo metro stop — go one further to the Cleveland Park stop. And DC Like a Local says the same. You’ll appreciate that advice, I promise. There’s enough of a hill IN the zoo. No need to deal with it on your way to the zoo.
So, if you are thinking of a trip to DC, ask me my advice. I’ll be happy to share. But you really should visit the DC Like A Local blog. You’ll be happy you did.
