On all the calendar sites and many blogs, January 9th is “National Apricot Day”. I have searched, but not yet found a true source for this holiday. Apricots aren’t in season for a few more months, so it seems a bit strange…
I’ve been feeling a bit out of touch at home because of all of our traveling. To help combat that feeling of disconnection, I hosted a casual potluck dinner at our house last night. In the invitation, I mentioned the fact that the 9th is “National Apricot Day” and a few folks brought apricot based dishes. I made both an apricot couscous and baked apricots. More apricots than I’ve ever cooked with in my life!
The dinner was a success, I think. There were about 25 people here, including various kids. We had nice conversations and the kids had lots of fun. Folks who may not have had a chance to get to know each other came together and connected.
