During this short break, Rob decided to work on ripping huge stacks of CDs on his computer, so he can listen to a greater variety of his music than he has in a long time. I worked on creating the 2009 version of our family website and catching up on some other journaling tasks.

I didn’t want to spend the entire day inside and neither did the other adults. Chloe insisted that she did not want to go out and wanted to stay home to play. Unfortunately, she is not old enough to do so, so she was stuck going out with the rest of us. We went to the grocery store for some provisions or the evening, then headed into Blue Ridge. The girls enjoyed the Bird Store, where Barbara talks to her friend, the owner. Camille picked out some gifts for her birding grandparents and also picked out an allowance-waster for herself. We walked around town; Chloe loved the gallery with lots of wood, ceramic and basket platters and vases. I did not find the hat that I was looking for.

We all used our various maps, GPSes, etc. to find our way to a place that we had been many times before. Once there, we searched for a geocache. The wind was blowing fierce, so both girls became cranky. Camille climbed in the car to avoid the wind; Chloe spun in circles getting dizzy. Chloe helped replace the geocache when we were done logging it.

Chloe was done. She was hungry, tired, bored. We stopped at a convenience store for some immediate provisions. Camille chose boiled peanuts over my protests. I can’t stand the smell of them!! We quickly found the general area for the next cache, but spent a very long time poking around in a drainage dish trying to find it. During this time, the girls mostly sat in the car out of the wind. Just as we were giving up, Rob spotted a rock by a tree a bit away from where we were looking and found it! We left an item, took an item and a travel bug.

We decided to skip the last cache, but Chloe did agree to go down to the lake to see what it looked like. She was hoping that it would be frozen over, and was sad to see that it was not.
