Wii Fit came into our live a couple of weeks ago, and the kids can’t get enough of it. Camille loves the step aerobics and hula hooping games. Chloe loves ski jumping. But both of them love the tightrope walking.

Yesterday, Chloe decided to take this virtual skill and test it out in reality. She was very excited about being able to balance on the footboard of the bed. She talked about wanting to be in a circus, go to circus camp, learn more. She was so excited about doing so well, that I took this photo of her.

As I turned around to load the photo on to the computer, I heard a crash and a scream. At first I thought she landed on her leg too hard, but she was holding her crotch and screaming. I thought she had bruised herself until I saw the blood. Dark red blood, coming from a deep gash on her inner thigh.

I took her to my dad and we agreed that she needed to have it looked at. While my dad drove, I looked through a local business magazine and found an urgent care clinic and called to see if they could see us. Rob, on his way up from Atlanta for the holiday, had been at Ingles buying some food. Since the grocery store is next door to the clinic, he was there waiting for us when we arrived and carried Chloe in. Rob and Chloe were ushered right back while my dad parked the car and I filled out the paperwork. Chloe cried the whole time, not from pain, but from fear of the stitches she might have to have. And in the end, she did need five stitches. She was fine as long as the nurse distracted her…

She’s fine today, except for some tenderness. She can’t take a bath or swim for a week and will have to go to the doctor to get the stitches out. And now Chloe can reassure Camille if Camille ever needs to get stitches.
