Last week a nice big package arrived for us from our pal Mindy at XMKids Radio. See, the girls and I have been tuning in to XM while on our car travels. Chloe keeps occupied in the car as she tries to call in to talk to Mindy, Kenny and Robbie. (Though sometimes she gets bored of redialing and asks me to do it for her…)

Since I love to start blogs, I had actually started an XMKiDS Fan Blog back in December. I posted or not based on how much we were listening. This month, Mindy has been doing all sorts of wonderful things on the show, so I’ve been posting a lot.

If you go to the post Quiz on Demand, you’ll see the very strange way that we ended up with this package of goodies. One of the books in the package was Cooking Fun: 121 Simple Recipes to Make with Kids by Rae Grant. On Sunday night, Camille picked out a full day’s worth of recipes and on Monday, we bought the necessary ingredients.

Yesterday Camille cooked and cooked. I helped by opening a couple of bottles and by monitoring the grilled cheese sandwiches (and by cleaning up, ugh).

Breakfast:
Wake Up Breakfast Drink
Grandma’s Cinnamon Toast

Lunch:
Egg Cream Drink
Creamy Tomato Soup
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Tea Time:
Tea
Hot Milk Sponge Cake

Dinner:
Lemon Fizz
Baked Potatoes
Easy Cheesy Broccoli Soup
Simple Green Salad (with homemade vinaigrette)

I looked up this book on Amazon and read several of the recipes. It is super! Now I’ll have almost nothing to teach Camille — she can teach me.

Camile needs to learn to time things. The potatoes came out of the oven a half-hour after we were done eating our soup….

Oh, how fun! I hope Lilah likes cooking with me…though I like cooking much more than cleaning up!

Mollie Katzen has a couple of kids recipe books that are vegetarian (Salad People and Pretend Soup) in case you need more.

Allison – It might skip a generation? Not necessarily a bad thing 🙂

We have “Pretend Soup” and have gotten two Katzen kid cookbooks from the library. I think this one is geared a little higher and Camille can do it herself, which is nice. Chloe is running to find it now that I brought it up ….
