We have managed to search amazon from the kindle and download samples of two books. Moreover, the Kindle has a rudimentary browser, which we can use to surf the “PDA” web (you know, text only and all that). We haven’t yet chosen to buy a book, but can sense that will happen very, very soon.

Ergonomically, it is quite nice. I’m sure we will enjoy it. Now we need to name it. Camille thinks Eratosthenes is too difficult. Madame Pince, perhaps? Or how about Hermione? She’s like a portable library herself. “I read about it in ….”

“Aren’t you ever going to read Hogwarts, A History”?

      I like Hermione myself.

Ooh, tough to decide which books to buy. Although in many cases, I notice the Kindle edition is less expensive than physical editions.

I think we are mostly going to load it up with free or very cheap books at this point. Stuff like Dickens, Twain, Kipling, etc. There’s a lot out there that isn’t $10 a book.

I am looking forward to updates on how you all are liking the Kindle. Will you and Camille share it…or is it mostly for Camille?

Kat – It is mostly for Camille, since during the long car trips we have coming up this summer, I will be doing the driving. I try not to read and drive 🙂

For this immediate trip, we will share, but I suspect she will be the majority user. Rob put around 30 free books on it last night.

I’ve picked out about 4 that I might buy today.
