Too hot to think. And I have so much thinking that I need to do this week in order to finish up projects at work and to get us ready to go. Like yesterday, we realized that we need to buy Japan Rail passes while still in the US in order to get the substantial international discount. And now we see that our phones will almost definitely NOT work in Japan. The new iPhone 3G will though. Too bad it won’t be available until after we get back. I have a feeling I know what our anniversary present to each other will be.

I have been working in the morning, resting in the afternoon and taking the girls to the beach in the evening. That seems to be working well. I sure hope that this record-breaking heat breaks soon.

It is freakin’ hot. Too hot. I am enjoying our air conditioning. I shudder to think of life before A/C…or of life in the northeast right now…where A/C is not standard and it’s just as hot.

And then I wonder what the heat has done to my brain as we go to San Antonio next week…where it’s even hotter than here.

Has your kindle arrived? I had no idea that Camille read two books a day. Amazing! How do you keep her in books?!

We usually have 40 books out from the library…and she re-reads her favorites all the time. And now she has a new friend that has lots of books to loan (thanks Allison!).

There are days that she doesn’t read two books, of course. But if we are in the car for a while or at home for a while, it is likely she will go through two books (one for history and one for fun).

Happy to help 🙂 I hope Camille enjoys them. I’ll have more by the time you get back, just have to go through a stack.

It’s been so yucky and hot. I took Lilah to the beach yesterday afternoon because I feel bad keeping her in the a/c for days on end. We both came back and guzzled ice water like crazy. It was fun, though!

Great! I’m not sure she’ll get through this stack before we leave, but she’s trying. Today she’s a bit distracted by the kindle….

We tend to head to the beach between 4:30 and 5. I can’t stand to go earlier; it is just too hot!
