Today Barbara, the girls and I headed out to the Renaissance Festival. In the past, we haven’t gone as Chloe had a deep fear of swords. She’s gotten past that now, and now loves a good weapon. It was “Pirate’s Plunder” weekend, and the girls gathered quite a bit of pirate’s booty (not the cheesy kind).

One of the main things that struck us was that the rides were human powered. no annoying lights, no annoying music. We were there early Sunday morning (no crowd) and the weather was delightful. The girls wanted to do it all! They looked at everything first (at my insistence) then picked the treasures, games, rides and food that they wanted to try. Chloe was very disappointed to not win a big prize in the “Frog Catapault”. Camille tried her hand at a tossing game. They both went on the giant slide and the carousel (man powered and really cool).

The girls chose pet dragons, then the three of us splurged and bought cloaks for ourselves. Aren’t we a crew?

How fun. We have not been since Katie was little…we need to go again. Did it stay pretty un-crowded?

Hey Kat – Chloe couldn’t go until this year because she was scared. So this was our first time. Around noon it started to get a little more crowded. But we had already been around once and had a good idea of exactly what we wanted to do. The girls were only slightly interested in the big “shows”. There were no lines for rides/games and only short ones for the food.
