Let me first state that we are very open to same-sex couples with children. No problem at all. I came home today from a stressful day of yard sales; stressful only because I was in charge (as neighborhood association president) and did not cancel the event. When the rain poured down, so did my tears. I didn’t sleep last night, agonizing over the decision, and in the end, it wasn’t the best one.

When I got home, I was talking about a wonderful neighbor whose parter who is soon to give birth at the hospital where Chloe was born. As I talked about their family, Chloe was alarmed to hear that the new baby would have two moms. She was worried that there would be no one to have fun with. Mommies do the every day stuff, but daddies are there for the fun stuff, like Dunkin’ Donuts.

She’ll learn that every family is different, and in other families, the mom is not tyrant. Then she’ll accept everyone else and just disown me.

That is so funny. My girls are the same way. Mommy does the boring stuff…Daddy does the fun stuff. Mommy goes to the post office and the bank and helps with school work. Daddy takes them go-cart racing and to get ice cream.

hehe It is great for kids to see all the different ways families can form. Hard to explain sometimes, but good.
