These crazy girls; I wonder if they have ever seen Spanish moss before? It makes for great dress up I guess. Playing with it was one of the highlights of our morning walk through the historical district of Jekyll Island. The other was a trip to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Last year, a month after we moved, we held a garage sale on “International Sea Turtle Day.” Not coincidentally, this was also the date that the sea turtle center opened. The girls set up a lemonade stand and made $75 that they sent as a donation to the center. If you’ve been to our house, you may have noticed that turtles are our family “mascot,” and we think all turtles are very special. In fact, the location of the Sea Turtle Center was one reason we chose Jekyll Island as our mini spring break vacation.

The Center was wonderful. Nicely laid out and very informative. We got to watch as they worked on a turtle that had been hit by a car and saw lots of turtles swimming in pools, as well as the hatchling that is going to be the GSTC mascot. As we were leaving, we decided to adopt a sea turtle named Spitfire. What a great morning!
