It’s official. We’ve cashed in a whole lot of SkyMiles and are headed to Japan for 2.5 weeks in June. One week we will spend in Okinawa (see photo), then 1.5 weeks will be spent in Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. I’m looking into Japanese for travelers right now — I did minor in Japanese, but I don’t remember very much at this point. And even those three years of college classes were not enough to make me very fluent. But if we can ask where the bathroom is and to tell waitstaff that we don’t eat fish, we’ll be okay.
Yikes! The non-fish eating girls and I are going to a tropical island in Japan! I think we will end up eating fish or fish broth without intending to. I hope that our digestive systems will handle it with little difficulties. In any case, I see a lot of rice and tempura in our future …
