We’ll Miss You, Betty
When I cam back from getting the mail today, our neighbor came to tell me that he found Betty’s body under the bushes in his yard. Poor Betty; we are all so sad that this happened to her. When we come back from the cabin, we’ll bury her in the yard and probably place Wilma’s
50 States Video
While working on a series of posts about homeschooling today, I came across this really cute video. I just had to share. Did everyone learn this song as a kid? I can get through Michigan still. Guess I need to practice. I remember learning “Io-way”, not “Io-wA”. How about you?
Did You Know?
That the Poinsettia is named after a former Congressman from South Carolina? That’s just one of the many interesting pieces of trivia that I encountered in The Stranger and the Statesman: James Smithson, John Quincy Adams, and the Making of America’s Greatest Museum: The Smithsonian by Nina Burleigh. It was a fascinating read, not just
Blog Photos
In preparation for 2008, I renamed my Daily Photo album on Picasa to Daily Photo 2007. Apparently, Picasa renamed the directory, so many of the photos in the blog now have broken links. The Googlers surely could have come up with a better system than that! Oh well. It’s a wet morning here in Atlanta.
Betty, Where Are You?
Early in the morning of the 26th, Rob let Betty out of the house (she goes in and out multiple times at night). A minute later we hear a dog bark in our back yard, and then a few minutes later two dogs barking menacingly in the front. I ran out on the porch and
Happy Chrismtas All!

Though it usually looks like that, I admit I stopped to remove two files that Rob put there yesterday while applying for a FCC license of some sort having to do with the “compliated” (as Chloe says) walkie-talkies I bought for the kids for Christmas. The license is good for everyone remotely related to him,
It’s Party Time
We went to a big surprise party last night just up the street at the clubhouse. The girls had a great time — parties three nights in a row is a little much, though!
Uncle Rock in Concert
I’ve not been able to keep up. Between my back hurting, Christmas preparations (including hosting 50+ people at our house for the Pine Lake Progressive Dinner on Saturday), and work, I’ve not had much energy left for taking pictures and writing in blogland. Yesterday, we drove to Athens to see Uncle Rock perform. We all
Dan Zanes
What a week! Two of “kindie rock’s” superstars came to Atlanta this week. And we were lucky enough to go to both concerts and talk to both performers…. Next week brings yet another great concert; stay tuned! The DZ concert was fantastic. The audience started out quite reserved, but eventually lost whatever was holding them
Blustery Day
Despite the wind, Camille really enjoyed playing at the beach on Tuesday. It is not clear what has come over, but she’s wanted to bake, bake, bake, these past few days. She’s made pancakes, french toast, crepes, peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles and shortbread cookies this week. I’m hoping she’ll make latkes tonight!
Chloe Loves Laurie!
Yesterday we went to see The Laurie Berkner Band perform at Symphony Hall. Chloe has loved Laurie since we first got Buzz Buzz a couple of years ago. A friend of ours got us backstage passes to go meet Laurie after the show, which was really, really cool! More photos of the show are here.

In addition to all the village activities, we had an important event today….Camille got her ears pierced! The Lighting of the Lake was amazing. The cookie exchange, pageant and the rest really was a lot of fun!
