While at the hematologist’s office on Wednesday, I picked up a copy of Kiwi Magazine to read — the office is really an oncology practice and there generally isn’t anything there that is interesting to me or the girls. I found some interesting recipes in it, so when we stopped at the grocery store on the way home, I picked up a copy for myself.

Yesterday I finally got to read more of it while sitting at the beach watching the girls play. The mission of the magazine is “Growing families the natural and organic way”. I found quite a bit of their advice to be helpful,l but somethings just really don’t sit well with me. A $90 binder? Why not go to Goodwill and get one for $1 and decorate it with recycled stuff? There was a lot of emphasis on buying new (very expensive) things made of recycled and organic stuff, but little advice on how to use what you already have or to buy things used and create new things from that. Sure, sometimes you have to spend more for a quality, organic, natural item, and I’m not against that. But much of what they have in there goes a little too far….

Any magazine recommendations?
