Walking is an Act of Socialization, Not Exercise

Each day day we head out for a walk (often Camille is on her bike and Chloe is always in the baby jogger). I see this as my minimal attempt at getting exercise. However, more often than not, it is more an act of socialization than exercise. Each block or so, we run into someone we know (or that we don’t know) and end up chatting instead of walking.

Today Chloe and I saw our builder, then a lady we hadn’t seen for a coule months — we met her before we moved in. She invited us into her house and offered Chloe a glass of lemondae. While I am thrilled to have gotten to know a neighbor better, so much for my exercise! After we left her cozy, comfy cottage, we then admired many gardens until we ran into another mom who was teaching her littles how to play tennis and we stopped to say hi.

On the uphill home, Chloe insisted that I push her up the hill so I’d get more exercise, then she chose to run down the hill because it makes her tummy feel funny (rollercoasters are in her future, eh?).
