It is the first month of school. But I cannot believe that so many people have forgotten that when a school bus is flashing its red lights, it means stop.

Yesterday, I spotted an oncoming bus with yellow flashing lights. It stopped and so did I. The taxi behind it passed this bus whose red light were flashing. Cars behind me switched lanes and flew by. I was concerned for my own safety. But the safety of those children getting off the bus was at stake as well!

Personally, I don’t think buses should be allowd to stop on these busy fast streets. 6 lanes of traffic going 45 over blind hills has to stop for these buses that are loading apartment complexes’ youngest residents. It can take ten minutes to load or unload all the kids. It seems it would be safer for everyone if the buses could pull into the parking lots. But as long as they stop on the street, so must you.

Protect these children who have no say in the matter. They can’t choose to not ride the bus. You can chose to stop.
