Santorini – for such a small island there were so many things to do, and we couldn’t get them all in during our short stay. With Camille’s love for all things ancient, I decided that a trip to Akrotiri would be an excellent choice. The active archaeological dig is also a museum where visitors get

Chloe had an early morning meeting at school – she was elected as class representative last week. I spent time picking up around the house and then working. In the late morning, I headed to the Red Cross to volunteer. Chloe went to the square with her friends, then she and I walked Phelix to
decatur: scenes from the decatur book festival
This past weekend, I spent time volunteering at the Decatur Book Festival despite still being under the weather. The part I enjoyed the most was exploring the festival before it opened, while all was still quiet. I’m hoping that next year I’ll manage to make it to a number of the author talks…

Chloe’s back hurt, so Rob gave her a ride partway to school. I had a stressful day at work, and I ended up working all day long. The girls did homework during the afternoon and evening. Rob got home late.
happiness project: learning + misc (sep)
Simplify and Prepare, Project 43 and the monthly projects in my Happiness Project … so many projects! In reality, they are all facets of the same project, guiding me to finish or give up old projects and move forward on the ones that are most important to me. August’s main theme was Exercise. Overall, I

Rob left early for work. Chloe’s back continues to hurt. I was frustrated by the messes left by the girls. I worked, then walked to the library and grocery store. In the evening, Chloe had her flute lesson and we made pasta for dinner.
chloe: book festival introducer
Chloe had the honor of introducing Tony DiTerlizzi on the Children’s Stage at the Decatur Book Festival this weekend. When we went up to Tony to talk to him beforehand, he asked if we lived nearby. I pointed at the building behind him and said “Yup, in that building right there!” But then went on

I slept in until 8am, but still felt achy and coughy, so I decided to not work my volunteer shift. Instead, I rested at home and took care of a few things around the house. I didn’t hear much from Rob and the girls at Dragon*Con.

photo friday: oia, santorini
On our first full day in Santorini, the girls and I tackled the local bus system in order to make our way over to Oia, one of the “caldera” cities. Despite the heat, we had a wonderful time exploring all the windy streets. Our favorite discovrey was Atlantis Books! We also enjoyed a relaxing late

Sick! I could hardly move and did not go to work. I did manage to collect an achy Chloe from the pool (she skipped her swim lesson again) and turn in her registration for ballet – waitlist ๐ I couldn’t go to the RAD reunion either – too sick.

I told Chloe I’d drive her to school on the way to taking Phelix to daycare. Alas, I got stuck in traffic and didn’t make it to doggie daycare until after I came back home and had a conf call. Coffee with a friend, hiding in the amenities room while the cleaning people were here.
