Chloe’s Birthday Missions
At last, Chloe is nine! Sure, her birthday was almost a month ago, but she had not completed her birthday missions. Birthday missions? What are those you ask? Ah, well, to the listeners of the Absolutely Mindy show on Kids Place Live, these are the tasks that one must complete to become a year older.
Happy Birthday Chloe!
She’s now an nine year old! Dinner at her favorite restaurant (Harmony Vegetarian) with friends, her parents and her grandparents. Then home for ice cream cake and presents and sparklers. Our family rule is that nine is the magic age for getting ears pierced. I suspect that we will head out sometime in the coming
renfest – 24 apr 2011
Chloe loves the rides at RenFest — all human powered in one way or another …
Restless Chloe
We walked in the door from a long day of homeschool classes, lunch with friends, gymnastics class, a library run. (Thursdays are rough on me.) Chloe was “tired”. Chloe “doesn’t nap”. Chloe disappeared for five minutes, then returned claiming boredom. Outside, inside. Decided to clean up a “junkie” pile, but got bored and stopped, leaving

Camille’s idea of a “candy store”!!
chloe – 10 apr 2011
Chloe is a ham. Such a ham.
chloe – 2 apr 2011
Chloe kept posing for me, forgetting that she had a moustache…

flat tire: gymnastics team
As should be incredibly obvious, I love to travel, revisiting old favorites and discovering new spots. But what happens when a traveling parent has a kid whose desire is to stay in one place? How do we compromise? Last week, Chloe tried out for the “training team” at her gymnastics center and was “awarded” a
Leaving One Kid Behind
Generally when I travel, I either have both girls or no girls (though it is very rare for me to travel solo!). Out of curiosity on Thursday, I looked up fares to Austin for this weekend and was floored by the cheap tickets! Camille had an event at home that she had been wanting to
in jail – 26 mar 2011
Chloe put herself in jail today … in a ghost town in Manor, TX. A very nice place to visit!
feels later than it is
despite the time change only being one hour, Chloe and I are feeling the effects of getting up way too early and going back in time. I was up around 5am, a bit earlier than I have been getting up (thought I’d love to rise that early on a regular basis!). Then we traveled to
chloe – 25 mar 2011
Chloe, crazy chloe.
Nervous, Anxious, Happy
Chloe has been a ball of uncontainable energy for the past couple of days … A few weeks ago, she was invited to tryout for the gymnastics team. Or pre-team. Or training team. Obviously, I have no idea what any of this means. Since I was sitting on the floor at the gymnastics center when
biking – 22 mar 2011
The girls went “biking” at Panola Mountain State Park …
chloe rocks – 15 mar 2011
Chloe had to be prodded to go up and dance at today’s concert. But once she was up there, it was impossible to get her to stop rockin’ out.
high falls state park – 11 mar 2011
We finally managed to get everything packed up and got out the door. The park wasn’t too far away, so we had plenty of time to register and pick out a nice site along the river.
lesson learned
The girls get a (virtual) weekly allowance. Allowance at our house is not tied to chores, though on rare occasions I have been known to fine the girls when certain rules have been broken, most notably CDs and DVDs not getting put away. I’ve considered fining for gum wrappers on the floor and apple cores
circuits – 6 mar 2011
Rob tried to fix Chloe’s light saber, but it was a lost cause. Instead, he took out some of the electronics and showed her how it *should* work.
mission accomplished
last week was not such a great one. The girls had three days of ITBS testing, we spent hours getting new glasses for me (have I mentioned that I can now SEE?), and work was a little bit on the stressful side. I had hopes of getting away to go camping with Evie, but because
