Memorial Day, Pine Lake Version
Pine Lake celebrated Memorial Day in its traditional manner yesterday. Around 11:30am, we gathered at the clubhouse to decorate our bikes, our scooters, our wagons and ourselves in red, white and blue. At noon (or maybe noon PL time), the mayor gave a little speech to honor our soldiers and police officers, then raised the flag. The parade got off to a slow start, as the cars couldn’t get through the people, but then we all joined the parade down to the beach house. Once everyone arrived at the beach, the mayor cut the ribbon and declared the beach to be OPEN!
We had a fabulous cookout and ice cream social there at the beach, while the kids enjoyed swimming and playing in the sand. Thankfully, the rain stayed away until after the ice cream social…. It is now officially summer in Pine Lake!!!
