Taddy the Tadpole
Yesterday, I went out to look at the pond and notices that it was a quite active habitat. I crossed my fingers, hoping that what I saw in it was a colony of tadpoles. We have a frog that found our pond and talks to the frog next door, so it was a distinct possibility that we have a frog nursery.
A quick google search revealed that not only do we have a brood of tadpoles, but that the tadpoles will eat the mosquito larvae as well! YES!
Plus, one of our favorite bands (The Jimmies) released a new video yesterday about, you guessed it, tadpoles.

How cool. Especially the part about them eating mosquitos. Is the pond in your yard? Does it have moving water to keep out the mosquitos? Fish? Pictures?
With the creek in our back yard…I can’t see convincing anyone to put in a pond for me…
Oh, the pond. It is one of those big black plastic ones from Lowe’s. At the request of the buyers, we pulled it out of the yard at our old house and moved it.
We have done almost no landscaping around it, but Rob did work quite hard to bury electrical to run to the pump. We do run the pump (a turtle fountain), but it still has mosquitos.
No fish or plants yet, but I’m getting there….
Ooh, tadpoles! Anything that eats mosquitoes sounds great. One of my projects is a bat house, even though I know it can take ages for them to decide to live there.
We thought about a bat house in our previous yard. We had some fantastic trees for them. BTW, next week we have to have two of our very few trees cut down which is very sad (but approved by the Tree Board at least).
Flamingos, did you say flamingos? They MUST eat mosquitos. And, just your luck, I have a few to sell ๐ Anyone, anyone?
