Since we haven’t been to the Capitol for years, not since before the opening of the new Visitor’s Center, I though we’d squeeze in a Capitol tour as well. While the same aide that got us tickets to the White House got us tickets to the Capitol, he reserved them before we knew when the White House tour would be. As it happened, the Capitol tour was not convenient, so I canceled the tour and rescheduled for a better time.
The tour was a bit underwhelming. The dome is under extreme refurbishment and not visible. The tour didn’t take us to much more than the rotunda and an old assembly room. I sure was hoping for more.
I did enjoy our walk through the tunnel to the Library of Congress. I didn’t realize how many tunnels there are: The Underground City Beneath the U.S Capitol and Library of Congress!
