homebodies ‘r’ us
I work from home. Thus, I’m home day in and day out. When I do get out of the house, it is to go to appointments, run errands and be “mom’s taxi”, things that I don’t enjoy very much overall. I have come to equate leaving the comfort of home with desperately trying to get things done for the most part. I very much look forward to the rare days when I don’t have to be anywhere and can stay in to, well, get things done.
When Camille, who homeschools, and I do take the time to get out simply to enjoy ourselves with lunch or a stroll around town, I realize how refreshing it is to get out of the house with no purpose other than to recharge. We come back feeling more energized and more connected with our community. I’ve always realized that I have a bit of inertia when it comes to going out. And Camille seems to have a similar inertia. She has only a few more months of “freedom”, since she will likely be headed off to school next fall (summer, really). I’e been trying to convince her that *now* is the time to get out and about. To take the time to STEP AWAY from the computer and read a book at one of the three coffeeshops near here.
Now, if I could only convince myself to do the same…
