cape life: shingles

Shingle cleaning. Who knew it was a thing? I guess lots of people, but not me …. Like many homes on the Cape, ours has cedar shingles as siding. I love the natural grey of the aging shingles. Unfortunately, mildew was covering many of the shakes and causing them to rot prematurely. In order to help lengthened their lifespan, we decided to have them cleaned. Somehow, I didn’t realize that the the cleaning would wash the grey right out of them!
