Today is National Gumdrop Day.
Woke up to a winter wonderland! Salem College closed for the day, but our visit was still on! We had breakfast at the hotel, then walked in the snow up to Salem for a “Scholarship weekend” session given by an English major. Slid back to the hotel to pack up, check out, scrape off the car, drive back to Salem, and go on a tour. We had our own personal tour, and it was fabulous! After the tour, we drove to Davidson. The snow kept coming down, and the water on the windshield kept freezing. Brr. We stopped for lunch at Panera – hot soup! From there, we made it to Davidson. There were more people there, including a family from Decatur. We had an information session then a tour that included touching a Rodin! From there, it was a couple of hours to Greenville. The ride was fine until a few miles from the hotel – the roads started to freeze and cars were sliding and spinning. When I finally parked, I slipped and fell just getting out of the car … We checked in, then asked about a restaurant within a couple blocks. The going was slippery, and we watched all the people headed to the Diana Ross concert navigate the ice while we sat and ate our pasta. Back in the room, we watched the GRAMMYs to see “Hamilton”.
