blue ridge: apple picking
Blue Ridge . Parks and Farms Article
The other day, I surprised by a post on Facebook from Mercier Orchards that they would have apple picking this weekend. I tend to equate apples with fall, and, despite the girls being back in school, this is not fall. Not at all.
We took our chances with the weather and headed out. $10 to pick a peck, but then an added fee for Rob and I to ride along in the tractor. While I enjoyed hearing a little more about the history of the orchard as we rode along, I found it to be a little too infomercial.
Finally, we arrived at the rows of apples which are currently ripe. And the skies opened up. Thankfully, the raincloud passed by quickly. We picked some Galas and McIntoshes.
