gymnastics: thing of the past?
Another kid milestone this week… Our last day of gymnastics. For almost eight years now, Chloe has been going to the same gym. She’s progressed from going 1 hour a week to 9 hours a week, from a tumbling class for toddlers, to competitive gymnastics. She grown immensely in her skill, stamina, strength.
But next year would call for 12 hours a week of practice, year-round. Gymnastics makes it impossible for her to participate in other sports or other afterschool activities. So she decided that it is time to move on.
She had her last meet, the state meet, a few weeks ago. She chose to keep going to practice for a couple more weeks because she knows she will miss seeing her teammates.
I won’t miss the weekend meets and the carpooling and the late practice nights, but I know it was a big decision for her to decide to quit. However, she already has grand plans of all the new sports and activities that she can do to fill all her newfound time!
