Greece Trip: Day 7
Our alarm went off early this morning so we could get up, dressed, packed and down to breakfast before 6am. The taxi had already arrived when I went down to check out. The trip to the port was quick; a little too quick for Chloe, though. We made our way onto the ferry and found a great table right at the front of the boat. We settled in for a long ride.
After a few hours, we ordered some coffee and croissants. The girls read, did homework and napped. Chloe and I explored the boat. Even the non-business class areas were very nice. Chloe and I got lunch from the “fast food” place. I had a greek salad that was so-so. The ferry stopped in Paros, Naxos and Ios. We disembarked in Santorini and found our car to the hotel on the other side of the island.
The hotel is quite lovely, just a couple blocks from the beach. The whole town of Kamari is under renovation in preparation for the upcoming tourist season, so not much is actually open. The streets are mostly deserted.
Chloe and I made our way down to the “black beach”. The sand is made of small black volcanic pebbles. The water is pretty, but chilly. We went back to the room and collected Camille and walked to the downtown area. We chose a restaurant on the beach. It had a lovely view, but we got quite chilly. Chloe enjoyed the lava appetizer. Back in the room, we showered and went to bed – very much on the early side as we are all exhausted from all the traveling!
