atlanta: scarecrows in the garden
As long-time members at and regular visitors to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, we’ve watched it go through some major changes through the past decade. I am always playing old-timer with the girls — “Remember when the entrance used to be here, then there and then over there?” “Remember when this used to be the gift shop? And this used to be the parking lot?”
While we no longer go weekly as we did in the days of Mr Kevin’s “Young Sprouts”, I do like to get there once a season, to see what’s flowering and what’s new. Today, Chloe and I headed out early. I was keen to get to the scarecrow exhibit and figured if we got there early on a Sunday that we’d have the place to ourselves. Chloe decided, for some reason, to wear her Halloween costume.
When we got there, we were surrounded by the “stroller contingent” all in costumes too. Uh-oh. We had managed to stumble into an “event”. Even with the “crowd”, we were able to enjoy looking at all the scarecrows, especially the geocaching one made by our friends Val in Real Life. Chloe enjoyed the projects, even though she was the oldest kid there by a few years. And then we made our escape.
As we drove down the parking deck, the stroller lines for the elevator were unbelievable….

Glad you got to come see the scarecrows. That was quite a project. I’m still amazed they held up! We loved the wine-cork bottle opener one. Very cool!
