Georgia: Chief Vann House

Yesterday we continued our Georgia History Field Trips by visiting the Chief Vann House in Chatsworth. After a very foggy drive over the mountains from Ellijay (with a quick stop at Fort Mountain to use the facilities and purchase a few treats), we arrived at the historic site. We were the only people there, other than the rangers, when we pulled in.

A sweet little museum full of artifacts told the story of the Vanns, as did the fifteen minute movie. The ranger then took us across the grounds to the house, where after telling us a little about it, allowed us to explore the house and the outbuildings on our own. Both girls found the house and the history fascinating.
