Spring Break Day 9: Cable Car Ride and Flight Home
The girls and I woke early and showered and packed. Around 8, we headed out to walk up to the cable car turnaround. When we got there, the line was minimal, but by the time a cable car arrived, the line had grown quite long. When the cable car arrived, we jumped on. The girls got an outside bench, but only because I stood on the running board, holding onto the pole for dear life! Up and down, up and down, praying that the brakes worked well. We finally made it over to Fisherman’s Wharf. From there, we caught an F tram to the Ferry Building, where we found a nice big table and got coffee and juice at the nearby coffeeshop.
I sat and sipped coffee looking over the bay and reading while the girls explored the bookstore and drew and colored. After a bit, Phil, Barbara, Luis and Suze arrived. We got some breakfast burritos and food at the Mexican place and sat outside in the bright sunshine. After our lunch, we walked up Market to Camille’s “Lolita” Japanese fashion store and then the girls and I headed up to our room to meet Rob and head to the airport. We took BART, which was easy enough. At security, the girls and I were directed through the old-style machine instead of the scatter machine. (Whew.)
We pushed our way into the line with Rob so we didn’t have to check our carry on bags. The flight was mostly uneventful — even if it was much delayed. We landed, got to the car and got home. Unfortunately, I was too wired to sleep and went to bed far too late.
