Spring Break Day 5: Alcatraz
After an early morning of sunrise, fruit, coffee and yogurt, we headed back up the hill to the Legion of Honor. THough we didn’t go in, we did explore the sculpture garden and the courtyard. We walked back down the other side and ended up at the playground, which thrilled Chloe. Back at the apartment, we had some snacks and then headed out to the curb to catch the bus down to the piers to catch the boat to Alcatraz!
By the wharf, the girls spotted a Ben and Jerry’s and both got some ice cream. Chloe did a little geocaching with Barbara, then we walked out Pier 39 to see the sea lions. As we approached the deck railing, a seagull swooped down and helped himself to a bite of Chloe’s ice cream cone! At the Alcatraz Cruise pier, we stopped in and got a small lunch before getting in line to get on the boat.
At Alcatraz, Chloe decided she wanted to do the Junior Ranger program, but got frustrated about the order of how things were supposed to be done. Then Camille was frustrated that we had to follow Chloe around. But in the end, both girls had a great time and kept wanting to see more of the exhibits. On the boat ride back to San Francisco, we sat outside and Chloe kept saying how she needs to take more ferries.
We then ran to get the F tram, but the first one that came by was packed and didn’t stop. The second one that came was also packed, but the driver had everyone squish on in. After a few stops, we got off and then switched to a bus that took us almost all the way back to Suze’s. Chloe played on the playground for a while, then we went to the apartment. After a dinner fo take out from Pagan, we had an early evening.
