Georgia: Track Rock Gap
ga history . Highlands Region . Parks and Farms Article
While in Blue Ridge a couple weeks ago, the girls and I visited a couple places from our list of field trips regarding native cultures in Georgia. We first (with Rob..) went to Fort Mountain State Park to see the ancient wall there. The next day, the girls and I headed out east of Blairsville to find Track Rock Gap. We missed it going out, but on the way back, we were able to see the small sign. After parking in the small lot, we took the short trail up to the handfull of rocks covered with carvings.
We’d been in the past, but the site has been cleaned up a bit with better barriers that allow for much more visibility. Some of the markings on the rocks are a bit hard to make out, but others are very visible.
