Instagram: Chloe’s Breakfast
Chloe got in in her head that she wanted to make pancakes. And she did. Rob helped her a little with getting the pan to the right heat, but Chloe got out the recipe, the ingredients, the tools. She measured and mixed. She flipped. And she designed the presentation, complete with hand-picked berries.
On Unbecoming a Vegetarian
Here and there for the past year, I’ve commented about my flirting with not being a vegetarian any longer. After 31 years of not eating meat, it is no easy task incorporating meat back into the diet. I *could* walk into the McDonald’s across the street, plunk down my money and order some chicken nuggests

At the Decatur Beach Party, I was helping with getting people signed up for Smart 911. We were using brand new iPads for this. So brand-new that there were no crazy Photo Booth pics in the album. Thankfully, the girls remedied that problem right away.
photo friday: bahamas beach wedding
Back in April, we traveled to the Bahamas for my sisters’ wedding. While there, we had limited time to explore, since the main reason for the trip was the wedding and related activities. Though the weather was threatening, luckily it held out for my sisters’ long-awaited beach wedding. Chloe greatly enjoyed being a part of
instagram: driving the truck
The girls came with me to the fire station for graduation tonight (though I missed it because of their doctor’s appointments ….) They enjoyed the party food, the tour of the station, and the rest. Chloe, however, got a big kick out of getting to climb into driver’s seat of the fire truck.

Camille brought along some drawing to work on while we were out to dinner.
instagram: west ponce
The girls and I ran a series of errands on West Ponce. For some strange reason, I kept calling it East Ponce. I have absolutely no idea why….
And now what …?
For months, I’ve been blaming my lack of posting on not having time. And yet, finally, I have found time. Time to read. Time to move forward on Camille’s homeschooling, this past year’s and next’s (Historian? geologist? Ping me.). Time to think about organizing LEGOs (which take up every nook and cranny here in our

I found these guys to have been quite pleased by the earlier rainstorm as I walked over to the fire station this evening.

Gazoo and I enjoyed a quiet afternoon at home. She seemed content to sit on top of me.
photo friday: paradise cove
Back in April when we were in the Bahamas for my sisters’ wedding, we didn’t have much time for exploring as tourists. One afternoon, we drove east and visited Lucayan National Park. The next day, we took a ride out to the western end of the island. On the way out, we stopped at Paradise
instagram: poolside lunch
Between going on our trip and then working to get caught up form the trip, it had been almost two weeks since we had a meal by the pool! I’m hoping that we’ll manage to fit more lunches and dinner poolside in the coming months.

Everyday, we see more and more stickers plastered around town. Often interesting, but still find then to be in the category of graffiti.
instagram: custom shoes
Chloe was so excited to see that the package that came today was her custom designed Chuck Taylor sneakers. She spent her own money on these special shoes — but they are a little too big right now, so she’s hoping her feet will grow quickly this summer.

On the way home from St. Louis, we made a slight detour to see the “Man of Steel” in his hometown. Thing is, he’s made of bronze.

After our afternoon at the St. Louis Zoo, we were quite hungry. A meal from this Indian restaurant certainly hit the spot.
instagram: city museum
We spent the whole day at the City Museum in St. Louis. We first came here years ago and the girls have been wanting to return ever since … Glad we finally made it.
instagram: gateway arch
Opposite of the last time we went up the arch, Camille didn’t mind the ride up and Chloe started to panic.
