Mission Downsize: Day 8
Rob has been hard at work on the “business side”: checking the closing documents, wiring money, filling out HOA/condo paperwork, purchasing homeowner’s insurance. It’s all quite boring with no real tangible results, other than making it possible for us to move.
The girls have finally come to an agreement on new bed linens for their room. Since they want it to be painted “lavender” we need something to match the paint color to. And painting has to come before moving. So this was a rate limiting step….
I’ve been hard at work at Mission Downsize, but I’ve had more serious work to do which has slowed me a bit. I’ve managed to find new homes for some things (including our table and *eight* chairs!), but the garage is completely full. Strangely, when I walk through the house, it doesn’t seem like I’ve gotten rid of anything, but I’m sure we’ve really reduced our stuff on the top two levels (haven’t attacked the ground floor yet) by half.
I don’t think that the school which agreed to take my mighty kids’ CD collection had *any* idea what they were agreeing to. I meant it when I said I was getting rid of *hundreds* of kids’ CDs. Maybe I should have said thousands. I didn’t actually count. Unfortunately for them, I held back and kept the best of the best.
The downsizing blog has been a big help, and I think once we’ve had a moving sale or two, it will be an even bigger help. For now, I’m only listing the bigger items, like furniture or top-notch linens. There is no way I could list *everything*.
I’ve made a blog post about our moving sale; tonight I will see about listing it in the AJC and/or craigslist. I sure hope to move a whole lot of this stuff on Saturday or at least enough that I can continue with emptying the office, storage room and garage itself …
It is almost time to hire movers for the little bit of furniture that we will move. And then make the requisite dozen trips to IKEA that accompanies every move.
