live in concert – ralph’s world
We’ve been planning all summer to make a trip up to Chicago but have been waiting for a convenient weekend that would also include at least one or two kindie concerts. And, finally, we managed to make it up north on the last weekend of August. As we were delivering a large object, we decided to take Evie and spend the weekend camping — unfortunately, camping in the Chicago-area appears to be almost non-existent. Luckily, the Ralph’s World concert that we decided to go to was out in the western suburbs, and our drive in wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been.
The Palatine Street Festival was a nice family affair with lots for the kids to do. Chloe enjoyed the bounce houses, the archery and all the dogs that were around. Camille and I were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t find any artists booths — that’s what we like to visit at street fests!
Finally, it was time for the concert! It was hot, and we were in the sun. Instead of sitting in the parking lot, Chloe decided we should sit in the grass off to the side. Though Ralph knew we would be there, the other guys didn’t and they were surprised to see us, which is always fun.
The concert was fun as always; Ralph only played a couple songs from the latest CD and no new ones, which was a bummer. We always like to hear new songs! He had parents get on stage for a few of the songs and then kids up on stage for the last two. High energy, great music, despite the heat. Somehow, it never gets old.
