Seeing: Dauset Trails
While camping at High Falls State Park just south of Atlanta last weekend, we decided to take a short side trip to visit Dauset Trails Nature Center, a “private, non-profit nature center based on environmental education”.
We easily found the center. There were quite a lot of other families there, picnicking and enjoying the beautiful Sunday at the park. The lake and trails made for quite a pleasant setting. But, of course, my junior zoologist was ready to go see all of the animals! Our first stop was the “Reptile Room”, a well-lit, child accessible room with lots of animals and activities for kids to explore.
Next, we headed over to the “Animal Trails” area where we got to see lots of birds and mammals. Chloe was especially excited to see the otters playing and swimming. Next, we visited the farm area, where we not only got to see more animals, but we also were able to sit in on a blacksmith demonstration — very interesting!
The Children’s Garden was a delightful area filled with lots of surprises!
I know we’ll be back many times!
