what i learned today

local news:

• Suburban streets, pedestrians often deadly mix
  I always *hated* driving on Buford Highway. Two miles between crosswalks; what were people riding buses and living in apartments supposed to do??

• When killing a child isn’t reckless enough
  This story has been really difficult for me from when it first happened. I feel horrid for this family and their loss. On the other hand, I still pass buses, garbage trucks, mail trucks, etc. on a daily basis, sometimes crossing the yellow line to do so. Otherwise, I’d never get anywhere, and the drivers behind me get even more reckless. Yes, when I pass such vehicles, I take care, but is that enough?

• Vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants in Japan
  I just remarked yesterday how challenging its was for us to find vegetarian food in Japan!

• Pros of the new AirBook: SD slot, 2 USB slots, stereo sound. Cons: No backlit keyboard.
• I’m still on the search for a great app/website for my multiple twitter accounts. Right now I’m trying our Socialite. I like the single feed view, but, at first glance, it doesn’t seem to autocomplete my @s nor auto-shorten links.

• clean car — there’s a filthy one here in its garage. When will my clean one come back?
