Roadtrip: Cocoa Beach, FL
At the last minute, we decided to take advantage of our week off from work and activities and head to Florida. I hadn’t been to the beach recently enough and Rob thought it would be a good idea to visit with his parents’. We decided to spend one night at Cocoa Beach and visit Kennedy Space Center before heading to the gulf coast.
It snowed the evening of Christmas; however, the snow and ice had melted enough on our side of Atlanta so that the roads were clear as we headed south the day after Christmas. The drive down was quite uneventful, thankfully. Chloe had us playing the alphabet game and then the license plate game as we made our way to the Atlantic coast. Rob had booked us a room at the Italian Courtyard) nearby. The food was typical, uninspired Italian fare.
After dinner, we stopped by Ron Jon’s Surf Shop just because and, well, also because the girls need swimsuits as well. We did find a nice one for Chloe, but Camille, ugh. She has grown out of children’s sizes, but the junior suits were not appropriate for her. Grrr.
Back in the hotel, we relaxed — I took care of photos, Camille spun fiber, Rob read and Chloe watched Disney. As I like to do, I woke up early and watched the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. Once the rest woke, we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant (voucher with the room made it free) and then went for a nice walk along the windy, windy beach before it was time to check out and head to the space center.
