First Night Georgetown
When my parents first moved to Georgetown in the eighties, it was a sleepy little town almost too far north of Austin to be considered a suburb. The town was mostly dry; to get a drink in a restaurant, you had to join the “club”. Georgetown has changed quite a lot in the past twenty odd years….
The population of the city has skyrocketed. There are highways, roads, shopping centers and Starbucks that weren’t there before. There’s even an IKEA not too far away.
And, as for alcohol, not only can you order a drink in the restaurants, downtown has “First Fridays” where the stores are open late and serve snacks and drinks. Even the Williamson County Museum was serving wine!
When we walked into the museum, we immediately saw some cotton and a carder. Camille was thrilled to get the chance to card for a while. Chloe tested out a saddle and did some carding of her own while Camille tried to spin cotton. Snacks and drinks made it all the more fun for us all!
We made a tour of the square, stopping in at lots of different shops to hear live music, check out the goods and just have a great time being out and about. Lovely time for us all!

Looks like Camille had a great time. I love her scarf! Did she knit it herself?
Thanks, Lisa! Yes, she did knit her scarf…
