Crash and Burn
For the past two weeks, I’ve been working like crazy to pare down my massive “to do” list. By Friday, I felt that I had almost conquered it, so, with much happiness, booked a weekend at the beach for the family. We headed out Friday afternoon and had a wonderful time not doing anything — we swam in the pool, we swam in the gulf, and we swam in the pool some more. (Hence the burn — a touch of red on my shoulders.)
Then on Sunday, my sweet little mac started acting up. Same symptoms as before the last hard drive failed. Sure enough, it wouldn’t boot up on Monday. I’ve had my AirBook for 14 months and already the drive has failed twice. Twice!
I learned from my mistakes last time; no backup == lose 10 years worth of personal email. I backup at least every couple of weeks now, and I use gmail, so I’ll mostly only have lost photos from the beach, I hope…
In the meantime, while the stinker is off at the repair shop, I’m trying to get everything that I normally do done. It feels like working with one hand tied behind my back. There’s just about nothing that I can’t do on another computer, but it all takes twice as long.
