Exploring Ankara – Day 4
I tried my best to catch up on lost sleep and stayed in bed until 10am, and I was the first up of the four of us. We showered and made eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast before heading out. All six of us walked down the hill to the bus stop and waited for a long time for the university bus to Ankara to arrive. We rode into town and got out on Tunus Caddesi.
We wandered up Tunus Caddesi; Barbara went into the Midas Hotel to see if they had a tourist map of Ankara so we could figure out where we were and where we were going. We walked a couple of blocks and stopped for lunch at a Simit Sarayi sandwich shop. The manager came out and told Phil that he would be the dictionary. We all ended up with exactly with what we thought we were ordering.
The second we left it started to pour. We crossed Ataturk Boulevard to look at the fountain, then wandered up the street. Lots of people were out and about. We then headed back to the bus and the university. We walked back up the big hill to our apartment. Rob attempted to make Turkish coffee.
