relaxing in cancun
well, here i am again. traveling. and blogging. i spent the week that we were home catching up, getting ahead and going to a concert. but now we are here, sitting in the “junior” suite listening to the waves after a day of relaxing at the pool, at the beach and at a long leisurely lunch.
chloe and i headed out to find coffee/breakfast around 6:30. We were out so early, the only people we saw were a couple joggers and hotel staff, heading to and from work. We were out so early, Starbucks wasn’t even open yet.
after breakfast, down at the pool, there were three times as many hotel employees as there were guests. the pool was so empty, a pelican landed in it to take a nice bath.
with no real crowds, it has been pleasantly relaxing. despite the upscale hotels on the block (like the Ritz) and the D&G across the street, there are also hole-in-the-wall convinience stores with normal-for-us prices on snacks, even if paying in US dollars. our huge lunch cost us what it would cost at home. starbucks was not overpriced.
i feel no need to explore this trip. we visited chichen itza last time and that was amazing. but the girls and i are just as happy to spend a few long, lazy days at the pool and beach.
