NIce to Vorey
Barbara and Suze got up very early to get to the airport. When Barbara returned, I got up and worked on packing and helping to clean up. We were ready to leave at about 9:30, but didn’t know how to “check out.” Barbara made some calls, then walked to the car park to get the car so we could load it. We loaded quickly and then headed out of town. After having done it a few times and learning the roads, it was finally fairly easy….
The autoroute was a mess. Traffic moved very slowly quite often. We stopped for lunch at an “aire,” where we made sandwiches from our leftover food. It was very windy and things get blowing over. After too many traffic jams, we left the autoroute and headed west towards the mountains. We left the heavy traffic, and instead entered into beautiful mountains as we crossed over from the Rhone-Alps into the Loire valley. The views were spectacular as we went along. We stopped at a gas station (full service!) and bought bread and nougat (the specialty of Montelimar).
We finally came to the hotel that I had booked in Vorey. It was a nice little village and a nice hotel. We had a large family room that even had an alcove for Barbara to haver her own room. We got wifi to work, after some misunderstanding over handwriting and French keyboards. Barbara took the girls out for a walk and then for some dessert in the hotel restaurant.
