Lunch in Eze
Debating between going to St. Paul de Vence and Eze, we decided Eze would be more picturesque and figured out which bus would get us there. Because I wanted to get seats on the bus this time, I though we should leave early. We found the right bus bay and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, a bus pulled in, but the driver got out and locked the bus, saying that he was done(!) and that another driver would come shortly. As it goes, not only did another driver come, but he came in another bus, and parked in the neighboring bay. So all the people behind us in line got on the bus first! We did get seats, just not together.
The ride was a pretty one, up to Eze. We walked from the bus stop up, up, up to the village, which has narrow alleys and stairs everywhere — no cars allowed! We wandered around a bit, then found a nice cafe for lunch. Chloe ordered pesto pasta, which I shared with her. Barbara and the girls stayed at the cafe to order dessert while Suze and I went to explore the exotic garden just above. It was very, very hot up there.
We walked down to the bus stop, then headed back to Nice. In Nice, we relaxed a bit. Suze and Chloe went down to the beach. Camille and I joined them a bit later. We had a bit of dinner at the apartment, then went out to the Old Town. The shops were mostly closed. Chloe was cranky, so I took her back to the apartment while Suze, Camille and Barbara had a snack at a cafe.
