City Saturday
We headed out around 8am this morning and stopped at the bagel place to get some breakfast. Only one guy was doing everything, so it took us quite some time to get out. By the time we walked the two blocks to the bus stop, it was just about time for the bus to come, so the bagels sat in my backpack. We took the bus all the way up Connecticut, until we were just a block away from Maryland. We got to the Avalon Theatre so early that we spotted Morgan and Rachel (Gustafer Yellowgold) heading in. We sat outside on a bench and had our bagels and coffee while we watched the cityfolk, like the 10 year old boy out buying flowers on his own.
We had a great time at the concert (see the gbk recap) and even got to see Gustafer himself! From the theater, we walked down to the street to the most amazing toy store, Child’s Play! The people there were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable! The store was stocked with all sorts of wonderful toys. We bought a few things, including a new game (Chloe loves games).
We decided to walk towards downtown and look for a place for lunch. We ended up eating in a Greek place just north of the zoo. After lunch, we walked to the zoo. Chloe insisted that we go to the reptile house. No idea why, but she LOVES that place and wants to look at every animal in there. We ended up walking to the bottom of the zoo, to the kids’ area where the girls’ favorite pizza is. They played for a while, then we headed out from that end of the zoo. We walked up a huge hill, then through Adams-Morgan, stopping at a fun playground.
By the time we reached home, it was almost 5pm and we had walked six miles. Camille did great. And Chloe didn’t whine at all. Thank you stroller.
