Expedit – Now Made in the USA

Do you call your furniture by name? I lovingly talk about my Billys. Then there’s the Hemnes in the guest bedroom. I meet other frequent IKEA shoppers that do the same; I know I’m not alone.
IKEA made the front page of the Washington Post today (Ikea Helps a Town Put It Together), and this line caught me eye:
Shipping Ikea’s popular Expedit bookshelves to the United States…
Yes, I know which bookshelf that is, and we even have two (see this post. They are mighty heavy (and the big one is a bit complicated to assemble too).
The new Danville VA plant will eventually employ 740 people (out of work from textile, tobacco and other plant closures) and produce Expedit and Lack (a matching coffee table). Good news for Danville!

That is great news for Danville…and I like those book shelves. Do you find yourself limited by the squares? I think Kim has some in her school room. I like my ikea Billy shelves very much…
