Back to work and school. Chloe came home after school and got right to work then helped me make risotto, sausages, and salad with our farm greens for dinner.

We made hash browns in the waffle iron — Perfect! We took care of things around the house, then went for a hike at Arabia. The girls and I made a tortilla soup for dinner – delicious!

A day mostly spent doing things around the house. Not so exciting.
cooking.
I’ll easily admit it; I’m no chef. I have visions of making lovely meals. I purchase cookbooks in hopes of finding inspiration. Over the past year, I’ve been managing to get dinner on the table more and more often despite our busy schedules. Not only that, we’ve been branching out from rotating through the three

I had a morning meeting then had to pick Chloe up from school as she was not feeling well. Lots of teens came over in the evening. I went to a CAPS reception down the hall in the amenities room.

Brooklyn! It’s amazing how this place has changed over the past few years. We even hear that it is harder to find a place in Brooklyn than in the UES these days …. It seems strange to claim this vibrant place as my birthplace, but I guess my parents, as always, were ahead of the

I worked and then made veggie meatloaf, armored turnips, salad and blondies for dinner. Claire ate with us, then we walked her home.
taking the easy road.
The easy way out. Too often easy is looked down upon. But sometimes, easy works. One of my goals in my Energy and Empower year is to get out on longer walks more often. So far this year, I’ve made the effort to take some baby steps towards that goal. I’ve loaded Phelix up into

After a productive morning and a visit from the cleaning people, I had some time to take Phelix out for a short hike at Arabia Mountain before my two afternoon/evening meetings…
Project43++ aka Project44
Earlier this week, I turned 44. Another year has gone by. Like last year, I feel as though I didn’t move ahead enough on my goals. However, I have moved ahead, far ahead… What I have managed to accomplish in the past year and a half makes me proud. I still have a ways to

A bit of a sick day – I had muscle aches and cough and got a headache later. Chloe came home from her day at the food bank too sick to go to her flute lesson. Rob was still not feeling well. Blech.

After packing up the yurt, heading home and unpacking, I spent the rest of the day taking care of various chores. Rob came home from Mexico, sick.
celebrations: week 4 (19-25 jan 2015)

We all slept in. Phil and Barbara came by and then Mary Irene arrived to hang out for a few hours. We had a nice day reading and relaxing at the yurt.
volunteering: red cross
I haven’t said a work about the red cross for months. One might think that I’ve quit in my goal to volunteer there. But, no, I have been heading over to the chapter at least once a week for almost a year now. Despite some upheavals at the Red Cross, I’ve found a nice little

I spent the day working and preparing; Phelix was so excited to go to Pets Playhouse! When the girls got home from school, we headed out to our yurt at High Falls State
photo friday: national zoo
It is rare that we make a trip to DC and skip the zoo, not even for bad weather. In the past few years, we’ve certainly been there more often than our own zoo here in Atlanta. I think Chloe’s favorite place on earth is the reptile house at the National Zoo; I can’t tell

Rob left for Mexico. I was planning to have a quiet, productive day at home, but then a lack of water pressure sent all the kids home – 12 of them came to our house. I fed, cleaned and kept up with them. Then I was tired.
